Sterling Treats turns nutrient-dense brewers’ spent grain into a daily snack for dogs. The first batch was baked for Sterling, a three-year-old Maltipoo, after prescription care helped him walk again.
The lineup
Both snacks share the same published ingredient line. Treats are the 2″ × 2″ bone. Bits are the smaller crunch for frequent rewards.

Shop Bits Product detailsFrom spent to snack
Brewers’ spent grain is what remains after brewing. It is rich in fiber and protein, and it is often thrown away. Sterling Bits names Fertile Ground Beer Co. as a grain source.
A student-led microfactory at The Catalyst at Belhaven makes the snacks. The Bits listing describes a $20/hour living wage plus 10% sales commission.
Sterling Pulse is the QR on the pouch. It is there so you can meet the student team behind that batch.
Why this exists
Because every dog deserves to keep their stride.
In November 2025, Sterling lost the use of his hind legs to spinal inflammation. Prescription treatment helped him walk again. The snacks came next: a daily ritual, not a cure.
The larger mission
Sterling Treats is Track B of Project 62 at The Catalyst at Belhaven. Purchases support that student workforce. Wholesale buyers can send volume, timeline, shipping limits, and retail needs.
Support the mission
Every bag of Sterling Treats or Sterling Bits keeps brewers’ spent grain in use and supports living-wage student work at The Catalyst at Belhaven.
